The Kingswood Foundation
Established in 2004, the Foundation supports Kingswood's role as one of Kansas City's oldest and most esteemed retirement communities. Our mission is to provide financial support for facilities, equipment and programs operated by Kingswood Senior Living Community. The Foundation also supports initiatives that contribute to Kingswood's strategic and long-range plans.
The Kingswood Foundation is a separate 501c(3) organization with a 9-member Board of Trustees, of whom three are Kingswood residents, three are members of the Kingswood Board of Directors, and three are members of the community-at-large chosen for their areas of expertise.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES:
There are many ways to support Kingswood and its mission. A contribution of any size will help maintain and enhance Kingswood as it adds meaning and value to the lives of residents.
Wesley Assistance Fund
The Wesley Assistance Fund was created in 1983 to provide financial assistance to residents who have outlived their resources Since that time, more than $2 million in charitable assistance has helped residents who would otherwise have been forced to leave their home at Kingswood.
Wesley Endowment Fund
The Wesley Endowment was created in 1987 to endow future assistance needs, and the interest earned from the Endowment is used to meet assistance needs.
Memorial Gifts
Family and friends often contribute to Kingswood in memory of a loved one. The donor receives an acknowledgement and gift receipt. The family of the person being honored receives notification of the gift, but the amount of the donation is not disclosed.
Recognition Gifts
Donations are made to Kingswood to honor an individual or couple or to recognize a significant event or occasion. The donor receives an acknowledgement and gift receipt. The person honored receives notification of the gift, but the amount of the tribute is not disclosed.
Gifts for Capital Projects or Special Needs
Donors also contribute to special projects or programs that will enhance the facilities, activities or quality of life for Kingswood residents. Gifts may be made to an established fund such as the Spiritual Care Fund, Health Center Fund, or Gardens & Grounds Fund.
Undesignated Gifts
Undesignated gifts are given with no specific fund named. These gifts are used at the discretion of the Foundation Trustees in the areas of greatest need.
